Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out! I'm happy to give you some initial thoughts and guidance on finding the right help to manage your Facebook ads. Sounds like you need someone with experience and there's a lot of choice out there so it can be difficult.
I'd say your first step is to carefully investigate their experience.
We'll need to look at their case studies...
Take a good look at their case studies. It's tempting to dive straight into a meeting or consultation, but it's better to be sure that they have good experience. See whether they have experience with a similar niche, like clothing, and whether they were able to drive results for these clients. It's absolutely crucial they've worked on ads for clothing companies before and have proven results to back that up - otherwise they will be learning on your time!
Of course, you gotta be realistic results wise as it might be difficult or competitive in your niche. But if they've got good case studies and it sounds like they truly have the expertise, that's a great sign. Ask specific questions about how they achieved the results. For example, what was the ad spend? What were the conversion rates? What was the target audience?
I remember one campaign we ran for a women's apparel brand where we achieved a 691% return using Meta ads and Pinterest ads. I've also seen our team achieve an 8x return for a maps and navigation product, also using Meta ads. It really depends on the specific business, but seeing results like that just shows how much experience can affect your campaigns.
I'd say you need to book a consultation...
Get on a call with them, book in an intro meeting or consultation and ask away, see what advice they have for you. E.g. we offer a free initial consultation where we review their strategy and account together which usually is super helpful and gives potential clients a taste of the expertise they'll see going into their project if they decide to work with us. Look for expertise here, like they know what they are doing and aren't just promising you results. Ask them pointed questions to see how they respond and what their strategies are.
Tbh in paid advertising, you can't really promise anything as it's impossible to predict how exactly the ads will perform. Make sure they're realistic about this. Ask how they would approach your specific situation and problems. If they can offer a few pointers right away, that's a good sign. Ask them how they would target, for instance. And what kind of metrics will they be tracking and using to optimise. I'd suggest asking them if they think Meta is right for you in the first place - maybe another platform would be better!
We've got loads of clients that have benefited from our free consultation as we really focus on expertise and not just making promises, to show that we know what we're doing.
You probably should check their reviews...
Look at their reviews, see what other clients have been saying. If they have strong reviews that's definitely a good sign. We have detailed case studies walking through the full strategies and results we've implemented for clients and lots of reviews for them that give any prospective client a really good idea what we can do for them and whether they should trust us. Positive reviews are super important for building trust and making the client feel like you're a safe bet.
Make sure they're real reviews though. Some companies try to fake them, so watch out for that. See if they're consistent in their quality and whether they sound genuine.
You'll need to trust your gut...
But if it feels like they don't have the expertise you need, after you've done your research and looked through their case studies, then it's probably not a good fit. (Tbh if someone asks us for references or to call one of our clients after they've already reviewed our case studies and gotten a free account review, it's an instant red flag for us that we're not a good fit as it signals they really don't trust us and that'll probably continue.) It's really important to trust them and have faith in their ability. If you don't have that, it'll be a struggle for them to perform and you'll likely be questioning their decisions.
You should check the reviews and the case studies, and ask questions to test them, but you'll need to make your mind up at some point. If you still don't trust them, then maybe you should just go elsewhere to begin with.
A big part of it is having trust in them as well. If you don't think they can do a good job, they probably wont!
