Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out. I'm happy to give you some initial thoughts and guidance based on what you've shared about your remodeling contractor/custom home builder business in Florida.
We'll need to look at your website...
First off, I had a look at your website. It's good you've already got one set up, but just being brutally honest, it needs quite a bit of work before you start sending ad traffic to it. Think of it like this: your website is your storefront online. If it doesn't look professional or trustworthy, people aren't going to "walk in" (convert) no matter how good your ads are.
I know that sounds harsh, but you are far better off taking the time to get your website looking sharp before spending any money on advertising. It'll save you a lot of wasted ad spend in the long run. It's like building a house, you need a solid foundation first. The website is the foundation of your online presence.
I'd say you optimise your sales process...
Next, give some real thought to your sales process. What do you want people to do when they land on your site? Do you want them to fill out a form, schedule a call, or something else? Whatever it is, make it super clear and easy for them to do. Don't make them hunt around for it. People don't have a lot of time these days and can lose interest quickly. I know I do.
The best way to optimise this is with some well written sales copy that turns visitors into leads. You could also offer a free audit or strategy review. Depending on what the first step is that people need to take, this is what your website's start page should lead people to. Optimise this page with sales copy, make it really persuasive to take the first step. - Some professional copy could really go a long way.
You probably should set your budget properly...
You mentioned being ready to "get the ball rolling" with ads, which is great. But before you dive in, its important to set a budget that makes sense for your goals and your current business stage. Start with how many leads you need. Then figure out what the cost will be per lead based on how competitive the market is. When you know these values, you can easily calcuate the ad spend you will need.
You'll need Google Ads...
As for *where* to start with ads. I'd say start with Google Search Ads. With home building and remodeling, people usually search for help when they are ready to move forward with their project. And for services like yours, you'd usually want to reach people that are already looking for help, meaning search ads would usually be the best fit.
The other option is social media ads, but they aren't nearly as intent-driven as search ads are, which means it might take a lot of time and money to dial them in.
Here's what you should do...
We run a campaign for an HVAC company currently, they are in a bit of a competitive area, and they are seeing costs of around $60/lead. This can work well depending on how many of these leads you can close and how large the contracts are - you likely won't get the biggest contracts this way, these are usually referrals.
You can target keywords like: "Home builder near me", "Custom home builder", "Home additions", "Kitchen remodelling".
You'd probably want to target keywords like "remodelling contractor florida", "custom home builder florida", and other variations of that. When people search for those terms, your ad shows up, and if your website is looking good, they click and hopefully get in touch.
I've detailed my main recommendations for you below:
| Area | Recommendation | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Website | Invest in a professional redesign or significant improvements. | First impressions matter. A poorly designed website will kill your conversion rates. |
| Sales Process | Define a clear path for visitors to become leads. Make it easy to contact you. | People need guidance and a clear call to action. Don't make them guess what to do. |
| Ad Platform | Start with Google Search Ads. | Target people actively searching for your services. Best intent. |
| Keywords | Research and target relevant keywords. | Ensure your ads are shown to the right people. |
| Budget | Be prepared to invest enough to see results. | Advertising requires investment. Starting off small, then scaling once profitable is smart. |
